Pâté, also known as Paul Pateman, is a London-based graphic artist with a quick wit and strong, simple aesthetic. Working in both print and digital, he uses his wicked sense of humour to create concept-led images and type compositions. Balancing his time between commercial and personal projects, his roster of clients includes Virgin Media, Discovery Channel UK, Moo, Creative Review and V&A Museum of Childhood.
His type composition titled East End A to Z was exhibited at The Brick Lane Gallery in Shoreditch. Each letter represents a neighbourhood cultural landmark. A similar series called Cock-A-Doodle is a “dirty alphabet” that’s understandably NSFW. His combination of idea driven designs with direct, uncomplicated execution result in visually-arresting images.
Pâté’s style and creativity was honed over his successful career as a creative director at two of London’s largest advertising agencies, work that earned him over 130 industry awards, including the coveted D&AD Yellow Pencil. After thirteen years, he left the corporate world to pursue a full-time career as an independent creative professional.
